About this event

Girls just want to have more than fun! In this five-session class over 6weeks (No Class July 22), we will look to our female painting ancestors as well as some powerhouse contemporary artists for inspiration. Whether you are a beginner or practicing artist, this class is geared to stimulate your creativity while discovering new techniques and artists. Working from representation through abstraction, we will look at four uncompromising artists: Rosa Bonheur, Joan Mitchell, Jane Frellicher, and Julie Buffalohead. Crossing multiple genres of painting; figurative, still life and abstraction, our weekly painting assignments will keep us focused on new ways of seeing and painting. The class is part art history, part studio work for a fully immersive way of learning how to paint. Lecture and demos begin in class as well as weekly reviews of the painted assignments. Projects require some painting time outside class. Painting assignments are on gessoed paper which is included in the material fee. A $ 30 material fee is due to instructor at first class meeting. Bring all your painting supplies to the first meeting. For more info, contact the instructor through her website: www.nancywillis.com. Pre-Registration required. (NVC Community Ed is so affordable! Only $25 per hour for this class!)
