About this event
"Every story I create, creates me. I write to create myself. Every story I write adds to me a little, changes me a little, forces me to reexamine an attitude or belief, causes me to research and learn, helps me to understand people and grow." - Octavia Butler
For this iteration of Pages II Poses, we will lean on some of the lessons and the last words of Octavia Butler, our matriarch of Black speculative fiction. Known to not mince her words, we will engage with many topics and interviews, including her final conversation with a young podcaster, which happened mere weeks before her untimely transition.
Pages II Poses isn’t your typical book club or yoga class. It’s an embodied book club experience where the bending and folding of pages inspire poses and guide us toward reflection, healing, and self-discovery. This is a unique and transformative opportunity that blends the power of movement and literature to build community and connection.
Things to look forward to:
🌟 Guided Movement Practices: Bring the themes to life in your body.
🌟 Engaging Discussion: Participate in thought-provoking conversations that strengthen
our connection to ourselves and the text.
🌟 Purposeful Practice: Walk away with offerings and insights to weave into your daily life.
Octavia gave us predictions that became our present. Join us as we create portals toward different pathways for our future.
