Overview
This webinar is aimed at GPs, GP Trainees, Advanced Practitioners (including Paramedics, Practice nurses, Clinical Pharmacists) and anybody in a role that involves the assessment of and clinical decision making around the care of children in Primary Care.
Aims
- To promote quality in acute paediatric care in the community.
- To help individuals to develop their skills in assessment and management of children with acute clinical problems.
- To bring local primary and secondary care colleagues together to learn from each other.
- To raise awareness of Wessex Healthier Together as the online resource for both clinicians and parents/carers in Wessex
Content
Referencing recent local guidelines, this session will look at:
- The common causes of abdominal pain in childhood
- The differences between organic and non-organic causes of abdominal pain
- A review of childhood constipation, including common cuases and treatments
There will be an opportunity for delegates to ask questions from our guest speaker
The Presenter
Dr Mark Tighe graduated from Southampton University in 2000 with distinction in clinical medicine. A Wessex trainee, having completed SHO and specialist registrar training, he joined Poole Hospital as a locum consultant in 2009, and obtained a substantive post in 2010.
Dr Tighe leads supervision of medical students and the Poole paediatric research programme. He is currently developing NICE guidelines on management of gastro-oesophageal reflux in children.
