Participation Stipend: You will be paid weekly for a duration of 10 weeks $18.75 per hour, 5 days per week Mon - Friday, 4 hours per day, 9:00a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Apprenticeship: You will be paid the going rate for the company you are assigned to work 40 hours per week for a duration of 4 weeks.
Hot work refers to any activity that generates heat, sparks, or open flames, potentially creating a fire hazard. This includes: Welding Cutting Brazing Soldering Grinding Torching Using heat guns Working with flammable materials near heat sources Hot work activities can pose serious risks.
The OSHA 30-hour construction course is an advanced safety training program designed for supervisors and workers in the construction industry. It provides comprehensive education on OSHA safety standards, helping individuals recognize, avoid, and control hazards on construction sites.
A job readiness program is a training initiative that equips individuals with the necessary skills and knowledge to succeed in the workforce, including job search skills, resume writing, interview techniques, and workplace etiquette. These programs aim to help people find employment.
You must arrive by 8:45 a.m. Monday to Friday. Arriving at 9:00 a.m. is considered LATE. You can only miss 5 sessions and they must be approved as excused absences with 24 hours advance notice.
There is no parking available on the Somerville High School Campus. However, there is free parking behind the school on Medford Street. There is also a parking lot at Somerville City Hall in the ( overflow lot right between City Hall and the high school campus)
There is MBTA #88 bus service and GREEN LINE service to GILMAN SQUARE station. Go to https://www.mbta.com/schedules for service to 81 Highland Street, Somerville.
Where non baggy or lose fitting clothing. Blue Jeans and T shirts are worn. No shorts or sneakers, sandal. Workboots, gloves, hard hats and safety glasses will be provided at no charge and worn at all times.
