Santa Monica Mountains Fund, the official partner nonprofit at the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area, is hosting an exciting presentation on how and why to grow native milkweed, and will be giving away free narrowleaf milkweed plants at the Albert H. Soliz Library in Oxnard!

About Milkweed:

Narrowleaf milkweed is a gorgeous native plant that serves as a host for monarch butterflies to lay their eggs. Monarch caterpillars feed exclusively on milkweed leaves. Help us restore the monarch butterfly population by picking up and caring for your own milkweed plants.

We will be giving away free narrowleaf milkweed at the Albert H. Soliz Library in Oxnard on Saturday, August 9th from 9am-12pm; milkweed presentation from 9am-9:30am. Six to four plants per household will be given out to ensure hungry monarch caterpillars have enough to eat.
