Do I have to be a writer to sign up?

Accepted Answer

No! No writing experience is required! This workshop is open to anyone who identifies as Black, Indigenous and/or a Person of Colour who wants to start or expand a writing practice, whether you've been writing or journaling for years, or you're just starting to pick up the pen.

Who can register?

Accepted Answer

Anyone over the age of 17 who identifies as Black, Indigenous and/or a Person of Colour (BIPOC) who also wants to write in community and gather with others in a good way once a week.

Question 3

Is this class for all types of writers?

Accepted Answer

You might be invited to experiment with a new form but exercises can always be tailored to your style, form and way of writing (i.e. poetry or prose, fiction or nonfiction, etc.). You can choose to write nonfiction or you can use the prompts to dive deeper into your characters and existing projects.

Will this series be offered again this year?

This BIPOC series is only run once a year so sign up soon! If Sunday doesn't work for you, the same program runs on Mondays (open to all). Follow me on IG (@write.with.preeti) or check my Linktree (https://linktr.ee/Jadooberry) to learn about upcoming drop-ins and potential weekend offerings.

When do we meet?

Sundays at 10am PST / 1pm EST for 75-90 minutes from July 2-August 20, 2023 via Zoom. Please note, there will be no sessions on July 30 or August 6., however there will be times to meet with Preeti for 15 minutes 1-on-1 via Zoom between August 6 and 20.

Is ASL available?

Accepted Answer

Unfortunately, ASL interpretation is not available for this series. Live transcription is available on Zoom, however this is only 60-80% accurate. Prompts, goals and agreements can be pasted into the chatbox.

I've attended OSOV in previous years. Can I still attend this one?

Accepted Answer

Yes! While the format is very similar, the writing prompts and excerpts we read in session will be new!
