Oswald West Action Day

Oswald West is one of the Oregon Coast's most visited State Parks. After a busy summer, we need your help to clean it up! The Surfrider Portland Chapter is partnering with the Cape Falcon Marine Reserve Program of North Coast Land Conservancy, Trailkeepers of Oregon, and Oregon Parks and Recreation Department.

There will be 4 volunteer activities to participate in from 10am-12pm . Please arrive 15-20mins early to check in near the bathrooms of the Short Sands Parking Lot.

• Beach Clean Up (10+ volunteers) - Surfrider Portland will be the lead. This activity involves picking up litter off of the Short Sands Beach, trail, and parking lot. We will have extra buckets, gloves, and bags, but we encourage you to bring your own if you have them. We will increase the amount of volunteers, once we fill the activities below.

• Trail Maintenance (20 volunteers) - Trailkeepers of Oregon will be the lead. This group will create/open one south beach access that we can maintain, and also block other social trails to the beach.
• *TKO's standards require vaccination or proof of negative COVID test to volunteer with this particular task.

• Trail Maintenance on Beach Access (6 volunteers) - OPRD will be the lead with Trailkeepers of Oregon assistance. This activity will be working on improving accessibility by grading and graveling the main beach access and potentially blocking user trails.
• *TKO's standards require vaccination or proof of negative COVID test to volunteer with this particular task.

• Bench Reinstallation (2 volunteers) - OPRD will be the lead. Assistance in reinstalling the Blumenthal Memorial Bench on site.
