Over several days, you'll explore world-class scenic locations along the Oregon coast and receive expert guidance from Sam & David. From the rugged coastlines to the stunning ocean views, you'll have ample opportunities to capture awe-inspiring images of the region's wildlife, landscapes, and otherworldly elements.
This workshop isn't just about taking pictures. You'll also participate in classroom sessions, critiques, and group discussions where you'll refine your skills and connect with fellow photographers. Your instructor will share their expertise and provide personalized instruction to help you take your photography to the next level.

- Compelling Composition and Location Planning: Dive deep into the art of seeing and framing your subject. Learn how to scout and select the perfect locations that enhance your narrative, understand the best times for shooting based on lighting conditions, and master the composition techniques that bring your visual stories to life. This module emphasizes the importance of pre-shoot planning and how anticipation of conditions can dramatically impact your photographic outcomes.
- Photo Bracketing: Dive into advanced exposure techniques to capture high dynamic range scenes perfectly. Understand when and how to bracket your shots for post-processing magic.
- Focus Stacking: Uncover the secrets to achieving tack-sharp images with incredible depth of field. Ideal for macro, landscape, and architectural photography, focus stacking ensures your photos are sharp from foreground to background.
- Long Exposure Photography: Learn the techniques to create ethereal and dynamic images with long exposures. From silky waterfalls and smooth seas to trails of light in the night, long exposure adds a dramatic effect to your photos.
- Astrophotography: Venture into the captivating world of astrophotography. We'll guide you through capturing the Milky Way, star trails, and other celestial wonders, discussing the best settings, equipment, and locations for breathtaking night sky photography.
- Lightroom and Photoshop Techniques: Elevate your post-processing skills with in-depth tutorials on Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop. From basic adjustments to advanced editing techniques like luminosity masking, we'll help you bring out the best in your photos.
- Introduction to Video and Content Creation: Step into the world of videography with a solid foundation in video capture techniques, storytelling, and content creation. Learn how to plan, shoot, and edit videos that engage and inspire your audience, whether for social media, personal projects, or professional portfolios.
Itinerary
Please note: Our itinerary is flexible and may adapt to factors like weather, group preferences, trail closures, and other considerations to ensure the best photographic opportunities together and capture amazing photos. Coming soon, we will have outlined below the areas and locations we plan to visit each day, so you can have a better idea of the route and activities planned, but please note that they are subject to change.
Day 1
- 3:00 PM – Group meet-up at Pelican Brewing, Cannon Beach Late lunch, introductions, and orientation.
- 5:30 PM – Depart for Cannon Beach for sunset shoot at Haystack Rock.
- Optional – Stay for Milky Way if skies are clear.
Day 2
- Pre-Dawn – Depart for Ecola State Park for a moody coastal sunrise.
- After Sunrise – Hike/photo session at Elk Flats Trail with cliffside views at Devil’s Cauldron.
- Midday – Visit Hug Point State Recreation Site (must be at low tide – sea caves + waterfall).
- Lunch – Drive through Pacific City, refresh, optional beach drive.
- Evening – Golden hour shoot at Heceta Head Lighthouse.
Day 3
- Sunrise – Capture Thor’s Well and Spouting Horn.
- Breakfast and coastal drive toward Bandon Beach, stopping at scenic pull-offs.
- Check in to hotel, rest, and hold optional editing/image critique session.
- Sunset – Shoot the epic sea stacks of Bandon Beach.
Day 4
- Morning – Optional soft light sunrise or a relaxed start.
- After Sunrise, Begin drive toward Gold Beach before harsh light sets in.
- Afternoon – Explore Samuel H. Boardman Scenic Corridor (Natural Bridges, Whaleshead, Indian Sands).
- Sunset – Photograph the secluded beauty of Secret Beach.
Day 5
- Early Morning – Drive 1 hour south into the California Redwoods to capture light beams through ancient trees.
- Midday – Begin journey back toward Eugene, Oregon.
- Optional – Tag along with Davin and I to chase waterfalls near Eugene Airport.

There will be a $350 non refundable deposit.
We are limited to the amount of people we can take on this trip. Do not delay booking if you are considering this trip.
CANCELLATION POLICY
I understand that unexpected situations can happen, and I'm committed to providing a fair and flexible cancellation policy for my workshop attendees.
To receive a full refund of your deposit, please let us know at least 60 days before the start of the workshop, and we'll do our best to refill your spot in the group. If we're unable to find a replacement, unfortunately, the deposit won't be refunded.
If you need to cancel within 45 days of the workshop start date, we may be able to offer a partial refund of up to 50% if we can fill your spot.
Please note that final payment is due 45 days before the workshop start date. To protect your investment, we strongly recommend considering travel insurance in case of unexpected changes or cancellations.
Our main goal is to provide an unforgettable experience for all attendees, and we’re always here to answer any questions or concerns you may have about the cancellation policy.

Not Included
- Lodging: We recommend not booking accommodations in advance to remain flexible in case of weather, road closures, or changes to our itinerary. However, we will provide a list of suggested hotels in the area. Our first night will be spent at the Inn at Canon Beach
- Transportation: Transportation will not be provided, but we do have 2 extra spots available in our vehicle. Please inquire for more information.
- Meals: Participants are responsible for their own meals, except for on-location snacks which will be provided.
- Airfare: Airfare is not included in the workshop fee and must be arranged separately by each participant.
- Camera gear: You must bring your own camera gear, including a tripod, appropriate lenses and memory cards.
- Trip insurance: We highly recommend that participants purchase travel insurance to protect their investment in case of unexpected changes or cancellations.

Fitness
During the workshop, we will be exploring several scenic locations, typically involving 2-5 miles of walking per day. It's important to note that some locations may have sandy, uneven, or slippery terrain. We will have to walk up and down big inclines to reach a few locations.
We will be starting our days before sunrise and wrapping up after sunset to capture the best light. To fully enjoy the workshop, we recommend maintaining good energy levels throughout the day. If any location feels out of your comfort zone, you're more than welcome to opt for an alternative shooting location or take a break at the hotel. We'll do our best to group photographers with similar physical abilities together to ensure everyone has a positive experience.

- Wide-angle lens, 16-35mm(2.8 Recommended for milky way)
- Medium zoom lens, such as 24-70 mm.
- Telephoto lens, like a 70-200 mm or 100-400mm.

- Average temp is mid 50's to low 60's during the day.
Travel Recommendations
- To begin your journey, we suggest flying into Portland International Airport (PDX) and picking up your rental car. We recommend choosing an SUV with AWD or 4x4 to ensure a comfortable and safe driving experience on the coast.
- If you are flying in from out of town, we suggest arriving a day early to rest and adjust to the PST time zone.
- For those who don't want to drive back up the coast to practice what you have learned, we recommend flying out of Eugene Airport, which is located approximately halfway up the coast and inland.
