Do I need to have a college degree to apply?

Accepted Answer

No. You do not need to have a college degree to apply. If you have an associates degree our agency will include a 3% incentive pay to your base pay. If you have a bachelor's degree our agency will include a 6% incentive pay to your base pay, and you will not need to take our POST Academic test.

Question 2

Will I have to complete any of the testing process in the state of Oregon?

Accepted Answer

No. You can complete the entire testing process outside of the state of Oregon. You will need to come to Oregon for be fitted for your uniform and equipment prior to the start of our Pre-Academy.

Question 3

Will I know what station I am being assigned to before I start the Pre-Academy?

Accepted Answer

Yes. You will be giving the opportunity to pick up to five locations within the state of where you want to work. If you chose to go to one of our critical need offices there is a moving expense you are allotted. You will know which office you will be assigned to before the start of Pre-Academy.

Question 4

Can I go straight into the Fish and Wildlife Division?

Accepted Answer

Generally no. It is encouraged that everyone start in the Patrol Division and learn all things police work before transferring to a different division. Plan on being on patrol for a solid two years before looking to transfer out of patrol to either Fish and Wildlife or our Criminal Division.
