This session will feature a conversation with the author of Tracking YAP: Professionalism, amateurism and exploitation of emerging opera singers, a recent study examining the precarious realities of Young Artist Programs (YAPs) in North America. We’ll explore how these programs shape career trajectories, the structural and financial hurdles singers face, and the ways gender and institutional hierarchies impact opportunities.
