Event description

Description

The aim of this workshop is to explore the potential of the open governance agenda to inform the approach taken by donors, including the World Bank, to supporting progress towards effective governance in fragile and conflict-affected states.

In turn, the open governance agenda stands to gain from insights and learning generated by the peacebuilding community to inform better design and implementation of more inclusive and conflict-sensitive open governance programming in fragile contexts. With key bilateral and multilateral donors heavily committed to fragile states, and working out how best to support governance reform in such places, these explorations are timely.

This workshop, hosted by Development Gateway, Global Integrity and Saferworld, will be held at the OpenGov Hub. It will bring together 15-20 participants from the World Bank, bilateral donors and relevant DC-based think tanks and civil society organizations to discuss challenges, share experience, and outline what an open-governance inspired approach to supporting progress toward more effective governance in fragile states might look like.

There is the option to join remotely for this workshop for those not in Washington at this time.

Participants will receive a short briefing note in advance.

We look forward to your participation. If you feel one of your colleagues would be appropriate to join this workshop, please just let us know.
