About the exhibitions:
Braidwood-based artist John R. Walker’s work is informed by decades dedicated to walking, drawing, recording and exploring nature. Walker's new solo exhibition Forest Song is a meditation on trees as enduring lifeforms that hold memory and mark the passage of time. His practice is informed by diverse disciplines such as mapping, geological history, environmental history, mathematical theory, and poetry, all of which shape his understanding of how landscapes are formed, encountered, and remembered.
Exhibiting in Gallery 2, Kirsten Farrell presents Future Ghosts. Farrell's installation features found plastic that the artist has used to make layered and stitched textiles. Through this body of work, Farrell proposes that plastic should be re-evaluated as precious, honouring the materials aesthetic value through laborious craft-based processes.
In Gallery 3, Colour Rhythms presents works from the permanent collection that use colour in unique ways to explore emotion, memory and identity. Spanning painting, textiles, photography and works on paper, the exhibition reveals how colour communicates beyond words. The new iteration of The Window is curated by members of The Goulburn Club, a unique local venue run by passionate volunteers promoting arts and music, with a selection of three key works from the permanent collection.
