OpenDev events help influence open source software and communities. During these events, attendees collaborate to discuss problem areas, answer questions and create valuable resources that push budding topic areas forward, like Edge Computing in 2017 and CI/CD in 2018.

This new virtual event series will include discussion oriented sessions around Large-scale Usage of Open Infrastructure Software, Hardware Automation, and Containers in Production to explore challenges, share common architectures, and collaborate around potential solutions.

This OpenDev event series will consist of three separate events, each covering a different topic. If you're interested in discussing Large-scale Usage of Open Infrastructure Software, you're in the right place! We'll be discussing things like:

  • Scaling user stories with the goal of pushing back cluster scaling limits
  • Upgrades
  • Centralized compute vs distributed compute for NFV and edge computing use case
  • User Stories - challenges based on size of the deployment

Ideal outcomes of the event might look like:

  • New members joining the Large Scale SIG to continue the discussions
  • Continuing to meet, eventually producing a whitepaper on the topic (see the OpenDev Edge example!)
  • Incorporating discussion outcomes into upstream software development

The discussions held at OpenDev events are critical to the open source advancements addressing current challenges around hardware automation, scale, containers, and the overall open source ecosystem. If you want to influence the direction and future of open infrastructure, join the community and participate in this event.

Future topics will include Hardware Automation and Containers in Production. Check this page for updates.
