Open Theater Workshop & Community Gathering
Overview
This will be a four-hour, open, playful exploration of theater — a space for anyone in the community who’s curious about performing, creating, or being a part of bringing live theater back to the Cultural Center after the COVID shutdown. We’ll move, play, and imagine together through theater games, acting exercises, and collaborative experiments, and talk about what comes next: the Coyote Howl project, the productions on the horizon, and the 2026 season launch, led by the new Playhouse Division Artistic Director, Justin Zsebe.
From Justin~
"Whether you’ve performed here before or are stepping onto our Playhouse stage for the first time, I welcome you to join us. Come ready to play, connect, and dream a little about what theater can mean for Joshua Tree right now — immersive, alive, and deeply rooted in this landscape.
RSVPs are encouraged (grab yourself a free ticket here) so we can plan space and snacks, but not required. Drop in if the spirit moves you.
I can’t wait to meet more of you, to share a bit about my background and past work, and to start building what’s next — together."
This event is intended for adults ages 18+.
Justin Zsebe, Artistic Director, Playhouse Division, Joshua Tree Cultural Center.
