Event Description:

Drop in anytime during this open studio session to watch artist Kara Mshinda's drawing process, ask questions, and explore the techniques behind ALTER/ALTAR. This is a casual, come-and-go event where you can spend as much or as little time as you'd like.

About This Event:

Kara Mshinda will be working on new pieces throughout the afternoon, demonstrating freehand drawing techniques and graffiti-influenced mark-making on photographs. This is your opportunity to see the creative process unfold in real-time and learn about the methods behind the ALTER/ALTAR exhibition.


No appointment necessary! Come and go as your schedule allows. The studio will be open and active from 2:00-5:00 PM.
Bring Your Own Work (Optional):Working on your own altered image projects? Feel free to bring your materials and work in the studio space.Drop-In Format:

About the Artist:

Kara Mshinda's drawing technique is influenced by graffiti handstyle and freehand methods rooted in grounded theory and intuitive art-making. Her practice embraces "happy accidents" and explores how alteration can reveal hidden possibilities in photography.

Who should attend?

Artists, photographers, students, curious observers, anyone interested in process-based art-making. All experience levels welcome. Whether you want to watch and learn or work on your own projects, you're welcome here.

Studio Capacity: The studio can comfortably accommodate 5-7 people at a time. If the space reaches capacity, we may ask visitors to cycle through to allow others to participate.

Recommended for ages 12+. Younger children welcome if accompanied by a participating adult.
