Open Educational Resources (OER)—free materials that can be remixed, revised, and shared with anyone—are now emerging as a compelling low-cost alternative to commercial textbooks. This panel will discuss whether that cost-lowering is their primary value and purpose or whether it is an entry point for a radically new way of thinking about pedagogy and teaching materials. Are OER, in other words, more like generic versions of drugs or like the open source software that changed the world?

Join our panel moderated by Doug Lederman, Editor-in-Chief of InsideHigher Ed, for this crucial and exciting discussion
