About this event

Learning Objectives:

1. Occupant comfort: Creating an environment that complements the WELL efforts by focusing on the comfort of occupants whether in a home, office, restaurant, hotel, or retail space. Determine occupancy needs for daylight harvesting versus glare control and identify best shade fabrics for maximizing occupant comfort. This also includes the health, well-being, and physical comfort of the occupants.

2. Fabric Selection: A holistic approach to shade fabric selection seeking to elevate the importance of shade fabrics from that of just a window covering, to instead, a necessary architectural asset. Tying this into occupant comfort and how fabric selection affects people in various ways.

3. Motorization vs. Manual Shades: The benefits and safety of motorization vs. manual shades. Power over Ethernet (PoE) shading systems in large buildings, design considerations, various installation methods and shading types.

4. Energy Savings: A discussion on how shading can contribute greatly to energy savings in every season by reducing air conditioning and heating costs as well as reducing building materials. How shading can raise or lower the temperature of an area and how proper programming assists with optimizing energy savings without compromising comfort or aesthetics.
