About this event

Eugene Yukechev will speak about his type design projects, his research ito Renaissance typefaces, and a type revival of Robert Granjon’s Petit-canon Roman (Lyon, 1547), arguably one of Granjon’s finest types.

Eugene Yukechev is a type designer, typographer, and publisher based in Berlin. In 2013 he co-founded Schrift Publishers focusing on typographic history from the Renaissance to the Bauhaus. Alongside it he launched the Type Journal, an online periodical, and Schrift Foundry, dedicated to creating both original and historically grounded typefaces. In 2020 Eugene attended the Expert Class in Type Design at the Plantin Institute of Typography in Antwerp, curated by Prof. Frank E. Blokland, where he researched the typefaces of Granjon.
