About this event

Unstoppable: Stories of Grit, Guts, and Glory

We all have that unstoppable moment—the time when courage overcame fear and we took the leap. This February, our multigenerational storytellers are revealing their own tales of grit, guts, and glory. From unexpected risks to triumphant outcomes, these six true stories will remind you of the power of bravery and taking a risk. Tune in for an evening of connection, celebration, and stories that prove big, bold moves can change everything.

Team 20s: Natasha Jokic (@tashjokic) is a Senior Staff Writer at BuzzFeed. Originally from the UK, her work has been published in HuffPost, The Guardian, Business Insider, and Cosmopolitan. As an avid fiction writer and reader, she hopes to have something bio-worthy about her playwriting coming soon.

Team 30s: Lauren Davis (@LRNDVS) is a St. Louis-born, Brooklyn-based stand-up comedian, storyteller and writer who shamelessly overshares on stages across the country. When she’s not writing or performing, Lauren channels her creativity into hands-on art projects and dreams of one day eating her way through Japan.

Team 40s: Tara M. Harrison (@taramharrison) is a native New Yorker. Her writing, focused on her experience as a transracial adoptee from South Korea, has been published in BIPOC literary magazines. When Tara is not putting pen to paper or fingers to devices she runs her small business, Resilient Fitness in midtown Manhattan.

Team 50s: Samantha Schoech (@samanthaschoech) is a staff writer at NYT Wirecutter. Her book My Mother’s Boyfriends came out last month. The SF Chronicle wrote “Simmering beneath the sharp wit … is an enduring empathy for the flawed people that make her stories come beautifully alive.” She lives with her family in San Francisco.

Team 60s: Denise Santisteban (@dsantisteban11) is a storyteller who manages the Tours and Storytelling program at the International Festival of Arts & Ideas. Denise is a member of the Institute Library Story Sharing Group and has told stories at Tellabrations, The Mouth Off, Songs and Stories, New Haven Storytellers, and Story City Troupe.

Team 80s: Melinda Blau (@MelindaBlau) is an engaging speaker, an award-winning journalist, a New York Times bestselling author, and a host/producer for the Crow’s Feet: Life As We Age podcast. She recently published her 16th book, The Wisdom Whisperers: Golden Guides to a Long Life of Grit, Grace, and Laughter.

Hosted/created by Georgia Clark, author of Most Wonderful, and others.
