Do I need prior acting experience?

You don't need experience in on-camera acting, but some experience in performance is required. This class is geared toward creative professionals who have some  level of experience on stage or on camera.

Do I need to memorize anything?

No memorization required! In fact, in this course, actors will learn cold-read technique which allows you to hold the pages in hand, reading from your sides, while still giving a captivating performance.

How many students will be in the class?

The class is limited to 15 participants. This allows us time to give individual attention to each performer and to have time for questions as they come up for actors.

Do I need headshots or a resume to join?

Accepted Answer

No. This is a learning space, so no headshots or resumes are required. However, if you would like feedback on your headshot/resume or reel, you are welcome to share them with the instructor for personal feedback and guidance.

Will I perform every week?

Yes. All students will work on-camera weekly.

How much time outside of class should I expect to spend?

This depends on each actor's work flow. On weeks when actors are asked to self-tape at home, be prepared to spend some time rehearsing your scene and setting up your self-tape space to record. Actors are not required to spend time editing their self tapes.

Is this a scene study class?

In part, yes. This course focuses on several techniques for actors, including scene work and script analysis, on-camera technique, industry standards, and practical tools.

Will I get a copy of my tapes?

Accepted Answer

Yes, actors may receive a copy of their in-class tapes upon request. Actors are encouraged to review their own footage in order to evaluate and identify areas of improvement. Self tapes are also a great way to create a reel if you don't have professional footage!

Is this an online workshop?

This workshop is an in-person class, but future online courses will be available.
