Please join us for the 2025 OLIO Orientation Judges' Reception Dinner in beautiful Welches, Oregon. The Judges' Reception is an inspiring event which honors current members of the Oregon bench, and celebrates a diverse new group of incoming 1L students, encouraging them to envision the heights to which they might take their own legal careers.
Opportunities for Law in Oregon (OLIO) is part of the Oregon State Bar’s recruitment and retention program. Its focus is for law students who:
- Have experienced economic, social, or other barriers;
- Have personally experienced discrimination or oppression; or
- Can otherwise demonstrate a commitment to advancing the Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) Department’s mission.
The Judges' Reception is a highlight of the multi-day OLIO Orientation. The Orientation as a whole provides a diverse group of Oregon’s first-year law students with the opportunity to interact with each other, and with upper division students, judges and leaders who will serve as their mentors and role models. The orientation curriculum engages students in dialogue about impactful issues related to diversity, equity, and inclusion and builds skills for success in law school and beyond. The judge's reception is an opportunity to for students and attorneys to come together, network, and build community.
Attending the reception as an attorney is a great way to show your support for law students and welcome them to the Oregon Legal Community. It is also a great way to connect to other members of the legal community committed to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
The evening's program will include a keynote speech by Judge Cheryl Albrecht, and we encourage those in attendance to stick around for the conclusion of the 2025 OLIO Olympics, including team lip sync battles!
RSVP by July 18th!
If you are interested in attending other portions of the OLIO program please email Suraya Barbee at sbarbee@osbar.org.
