About this event

Hosted by: Vicky McDermott (2020) and Prava Dhulipalla (2020)

August 8th and 15th at 8pm ET/5pm PT (2-part series)

If you are interested in algorithms that you might not have encountered in your undergrad courses, this learning lab may be for you! We will introduce two of the following three topics: information retrieval, distributed systems, and artificial neural networks. Each session will be self-contained, so come to whichever one you are most interested in (we will announce the topic in advance). Expectations are that you are familiar with programming and algorithms in general, but there is no need to have knowledge in the topics described above. In each of these 90 minute sessions, we will spend some time presenting the topic and then leave some time for you to get started on an interactive lab applying the algorithm we introduced. We love learning about new algorithms, and we hope you will join us in exploring something new!

A bit about us: Vicky is a software engineer at Constant Contact. She graduated in 2020 from Olin with a degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering. Prava is a software engineer at Stitch Fix. She graduated in 2020 from Olin with a degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering. Both of them taught Data Structure and Algorithms (when it was student-led), and created and taught a student-led course in Advanced Algorithms.
