Barrington’s White House continues its partnership with the renowned Old Town School of Folk Music, featuring award-winning banjoist, guitarist, and songwriter Jonas Friddle. Friddle’s compositions have garnered significant acclaim, including the John Lennon Songwriting Award, First Place in the Great American Song Contest, and a nomination for Album of the Year in the Independent Music Awards. 

Originally from the mountains of North Carolina, Friddle brings a rich tapestry of Americana, blending elements of old-time, folk, rock, and progressive bluegrass. His performances are known for their storytelling, musicality, and the seamless fusion of traditional and contemporary sounds.   

Founded in 1957, the famed Old Town School of Folk Music has been a cornerstone of Chicago’s cultural landscape, offering a diverse array of music and dance programs that celebrate global traditions. The school has featured a veritable who’s who of legendary artists, including Pete Seeger, Mahalia Jackson, Big Bill Broonzy, John Prine, and Keb Mo, to name a few.   

This concert is part of the “Old Town School of Folk Music Live at BWH” series, celebrating diverse musical traditions and fostering community through shared cultural experiences.
