OHSU Innovation and Commercialization Internship: Info Session and Q&A
Overview
Explore the OHSU Innovation and Commercialization Internship, a unique hands-on training experience for individuals interested in technology transfer, business development, intellectual property, and the journey of moving scientific innovations from the lab to the marketplace.
We are offering two identical online sessions to accommodate different schedules:
- Session 1: Wednesday, Jan. 7, 12 - 1 p.m. PT
- Session 2: Tuesday, Jan.13, 5 - 6:30 p.m. PT
Nicole Garrison, Program Administrator for OHSU Innovates, will lead the session. Nicole has run the Innovation and Commercialization Internship program for over a decade.
Session agenda:
- Basics of technology transfer, business development, and patent law
- Internship structure, including required qualifications, application process, training components, mentorship, example projects, and what past interns are doing now
- Live Q&A: The final 30 minutes will be dedicated to audience questions

OHSU Innovation and Commercialization interns play a meaningful role in helping assess and advance early-stage technologies for public benefit. In return, interns gain hands-on experience and skills that translate to career paths in science, business, law, and innovation.
