Join us virtually to hear from Scott Nolan, senior director of development for WUSF. Scott will talk about the state of public radio in Florida and the nation. He will address the challenges the station faces in light of the elimination of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) and the funding that was possible because of the CPB. He will talk about the challenges of growing a public broadcasting newsroom with a current staff of more than 20 journalists, editors and support personnel in the current political climate.

In his current role, Scott leads the team responsible for generating support for WUSF Public Media and WSMR Classical Radio. There has never been a time when that role has been more important.Scott served in the development role at WUSF for the past 13 years, and in just the last eight years, he helped raise more than $50 million for the support of public radio.Prior to joining WUSF, Scott was the general manager of WDAV Classical Public Radio in Charlotte, North Carolina, and director of development for the Columbia Museum of Art in Columbia, South Carolina.He received his master’s degree in history from American University in Washington, DC, and his bachelor’s degree from Eckerd College on Boca Ciega Bay in St. Petersburg.Scott serves on the board of the Florida Wildlife Corridor and enjoys camping, hiking, backpacking and paddle boarding. Scott recently returned from an epic journey camping with his family from Tampa to Yellowstone National Park and back.He lives with his wife and family in Plant City.
