The Adam J. Elkhadem Foundation and Caesura Magazine are proud to present this launch event for OCTAVE: SECOND EDITION!

Featuring poetry and stories from the friends and loved ones of Octave's author: the late, great, Adam J. Elkhadem.

Octave is a story about an artist who pursues his ambitions with equal parts gusto and naiveté. Originally told over the course of 55 comic strips, the first edition of a book compiling the full story was originally published by Caesura in 2022. Now, in support of the foundation started by Adam's family and friends in his honor, we are proud to celebrate the release of this complete, second edition of Adam's epic tale.

All ticket sales for this event contribute to supporting the Adam J. Elkhadem Foundation, which is dedicated to preserving the legacy of Adam J. Elkhadem and offering opportunities for artists in his spirit.

The Adam J. Elkhadem Foundation's mission is to provide resources and financial support directly to artists, with a focus on the Houston, TX community. This support will allow artists to complete performing and/or visual art projects. The foundation will also preserve the legacy and share the collected works of the late Adam J. Elkhadem to the world at large. Our purpose is to take up Adam’s purpose. His drive to produce art fuels our determination to help others do just that. In addition, we exist to educate others on the life of Adam J. Elkhadem – visual artist, author, poet, song writer, and historian.

Caesura is a modest project to collect the scattered fragments of art and criticism working to escape the aimlessness that plagues the present. What is necessary is a break, a pause, and some room to breathe. We are looking to publish visual art, poetry, prose, and music as well as fundamental criticism and commentary from artists and writers that recognize the task before us and the need for something new. We have no schemas or positive ideals to enshrine, nor do we endorse particular styles, techniques, or media. What we have to offer is a sense of history, of the dead-end of the present, and the disappointment of the past: “a total absence of illusion about the age and at the same time an unlimited commitment to it.” What we ask is simply that art prove its right to exist.
