Oak Park, Illinois — the architectural and artistic gem just west of Chicago, invites plein air painters to capture our streetscapes, gardens, parks, and legendary buildings in our first-ever Plein Air Festival, September 5-7, 2025. Painting sites include but are not limited to the Frank Lloyd Wright Home and Studio, FLW homes on Forest Avenue, Austin Gardens, the downtown Oak Park district, the Peterson Ice Cream sign, Cheney Mansion, Mills Park, and Pleasant Home.
Registered artists can submit their work in 7 categories for cash prizes, and can sell their work at a closing reception on Sunday, September 7th (3pm-6pm).
Categories/Prizes:
- Best in Show – $750
- 2nd Place – $500
- People’s Choice – $500
- Historic/Residential Architecture – $350
- Coolest Urban Vibes – $250
- Best Use of Color – $250
- First-Time Painter in a Plein Air Festival – $250
- Best Painting of the Oak Park Arts District – $350
To register, please purchase one ticket per artist. Ticket purchase valid for entire weekend. To sell your work at the reception on Sunday, please use the add-on button and select Table at Closing Reception.
