August 12th – Mobilizing Gardens as Community Climate Hubs

Talking about climate change can feel overwhelming. We didn't get here overnight, and there's no one-size-fits-all solution for our planet. The truth is, we still have time to make a difference. While global efforts are vital, building responsible environmental stewards at the local level is crucial. Solutions must start right here in our communities. Join NYRP facilitator, Neishja Ransom, to discover how community gardens can be powerful hubs for climate solutions and learn practical ways your garden can make a difference and inspire your neighbors to do the same.

August 19th – Cultivating a Tech Savvy Garden

Introducing digital technology into community gardens can sometimes feel daunting, overly complicated, and against the spirit of gardening in the first place. But tech can also be an excellent tool for keeping garden communities engaged and organized. Learn about the pros and cons of technology in gardens, the best free software, and how to use it with NYRP facilitator Lucy Whitman Sandmeyer. Come ready to follow along as we dive into hands-on tutorials using tools like Canva, Google Forms, and more!

Sept. 9th – Mind The (Resource) Gap: Matching Programming & Community Needs

Many of us are motivated to take action to strengthen our community. But what support does our community need? Do we even know who our community is? These questions are often overlooked, but taking time to consider them is vital to ensure our work to support our community is truly effective. Join NYRP facilitator Michael Horwitz as he shares techniques for identifying your community and analyzing the challenges it faces so you can design impactful programs.

Sept. 16th – Harvesting Memories: Methods of the Traditional Farmers

Join us on the eve of the Harvest Moon as we gather to honor the traditional methods of indigenous people, the legacy of farmers and the language of the earth as told by the full moon. NYRP facilitator Mel Giraldo will discuss why the September full moon is given its name, the maps and guidelines of the night sky, and the practices of land stewards for the autumnal equinox as we prepare for our largest harvest across the Western hemisphere.
