For the first time in NYFOS Next's history, an entire program spotlights the work of a lyricist. Pulitzer Prize and Grammy Award winning librettist/lyricist Mark Campbell will preview his new work—most of which has not been premiered before—in this virtual concert featuring Olivia Cosio, Jessica Fishenfeld, Joshua Blue and Brian James Myer. In between songs, Steven Blier and music director Danny Zelibor will engage in a lively discussion with Mr. Campbell.

This 50-minute digital program includes a wide variety of musical selections by composers Iain Bell, Daron Hagen, Paul Moravec, Roberto Scarcella Perino, Paola Prestini, Matthew Ricketts, Kamala Sankaram, and Stella Sung.

A live Q&A session featuring Mark Campbell, Jessica Fishenfeld, Brian James Myer, and Danny Zelibor with Steven Blier as host, will follow immediately after the concert premiere. This concert opens the eleventh season of NYFOS Next, New York Festival of Song's contemporary song mini-series. With an emphasis on spontaneity, novelty, and collaboration, NYFOS Next offers a forum for song composers to share their work, and gives audiences an intimate encounter with the creative process, as new songs are presented in an informal setting. Creators are invited to curate and host their own program, showcasing their own work and the works of their peers, students or mentors. Past curators include Mark Adamo, Clarice Assad, Christopher Cerrone, Mohammed Fairouz, Gabriela Lena Frank, Kyle Jarrow (with Lauren Worsham), Gabriel Kahane, Laura Kaminsky, Carla Kilhstedt, Phil Kline, Lowell Liebermann, David T. Little, Harold Meltzer, Paul Moravec, John Musto, Russell Platt, Kevin Puts, Bright Sheng, Kate Soper, and Joseph Thalken.
