Event description

Description

The New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA) is pleased to offer an opportunity for arts administrators and arts professionals in all disciplines, organization types and sizes to participate in our new Online Learning series, Creative Careers. The first workshop is “Finding a Job in the Arts,” presented by Adrienne Stortz, Director of Special Project, Arts Initiative & Miller Theatre, Columbia University. The workshop will take place online on Tuesday, April 30, 2019, 6:30pm-8pm EST.

Are you new to job hunting in the arts? Or are you looking for new opportunities but haven't been a job seeker for a few years? The arts world can be challenging to navigate; what does “networking” mean in an age of social media, how do you determine which jobs you want, where do you find job postings, and how do you make your resume really stand out? This workshop will take you through the process of finding a new job, including searching, applying, interviewing, and negotiating an offer. You will come away with a clear roadmap of how to land your next dream gig in the arts.

Presenter

Adrienne Stortz is a performing arts marketer focusing on driving audience engagement and sales for prestigious organizations including Carnegie Hall and The Juilliard School. By working her way up from her first job as an assistant to musicians to now managing a team at Miller Theatre, she has gained experience navigating large and small organizations as well as freelancing. Adrienne has a passion for helping others be their best selves, and is excited to show you how applying a marketing mindset will help you with your job search--you will get inside the heads of hiring managers to put your best foot forward and demonstrate that you can solve their problems. Adrienne currently works as Director of Special Projects at Miller Theatre.
