NYC Modern Calligraphy Class for Beginners

Liz Roessler is a life-long New Englander and professional lettering artist with a studio in downtown Boston.

She has been obsessed with writing the Roman alphabet ever since she could hold a crayon in her lil' hand. Back in the olden days of the 1970s (before the interwebs), as a young girl, she spent endless imaginative hours at a big table at the Boston Public Library, pulling all the beginner's lettering books off the shelves tracing and emulating classic calligraphy styles. She joyfully experimented with letters and numbers to transform them into her own unique, whimsical creations.

After many years of perfecting her self-taught method, styles, and forms, Liz began offering custom calligraphy design work, including envelope art, seating cards, menus, programs, monogram and logo design, hand-lettering on chalkboards and mirrors, and more. For more than 25 years, she has provided professional hand-lettering work to a wide variety of clients, including individuals, companies and non-profits of all types and sizes, and some "wicked famous" people.

She is now thrilled to be spending the majority of her time sharing her knowledge and passion for calligraphy, teaching her popular small group classes to aspiring lettering artists! Private lessons for individuals & couples are available as well as small group workshops offered year-round on weekdays, evenings & weekends in US cities including Boston, NYC, Providence, Portsmouth & beyond. Her classes have become in-demand year-round for corporate off-sites and in-house, team-building activities.
