Join the New York Area Sustainability Group for our "international" event of the year, Local Action, Global Lessons for Climate Change, on Wednesday, October 22nd from 5:30 - 7:30PM at The J.M. Kaplan Fund office (71 West 23rd Street).
This event will feature speakers joining us over video, live from around the world. Each will share firsthand how their organizations are tackling urgent climate mitigation and adaptation challenges. They will bring a rich diversity of experiences and perspectives, all united by a common goal: taking meaningful, community-driven action in the face of the climate crisis.
For those of us in NYC, this is a rare opportunity to “travel” and learn without leaving the city—gaining insight into solutions that are deeply local, yet globally relevant. Speakers include:
· Jake Kheel, Vice President Sustainability, Grupo Puntacana, based in Dominican Republic
· Mark Steele, President & CEO, Planet Water Foundation, based in Bangkok
· Hussain Ziyath from Charrette Studio, based in the Maldives
· Sil Lanckriet, Co-founder/Ethiotrees (Climate Labs), based in Ethiopia
We hope to spark cross-cultural dialogue, uncover practical lessons, and inspire new approaches to our own climate work here in New York and beyond.
Thanks and we hope to see you there!
