Bios:

About Ajay Tirumala, Senior Manager of GPU Architecture:

Ajay received his Ph.D in Computer Science UIUC in 2006. He’s been in Nvidia since then. He’s been the Architecture lead for several generations of Nvidia products – and for the last few years, as the lead architect and co-inventor for independent thread progress, data uniformity and reduction features in the GPU. He currently manages the Streaming Multiprocessor (SM) Core Architecture team, responsible for the SM’s math and control units. The unified SM Architecture forms a critical part of both data center (e.g., Ampere A100) and consumer (e.g., Ampere RTX 3080/3090) line of products, accelerating a wide range of workloads from deep learning to cutting edge graphics. He was previously also a part of Nvidia Research.

About Harun Bayraktar, Ph.D., Sr. Manager, Math Libraries:

Harun received his PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering from UC Berkeley in 2003. After graduating, he joined Dassault Systèmes Simulia Corp. where he developed high-performance parallel numerical methods for FEA and CFD solvers. In 2010, Harun joined the Albany Engineered Composites where he led the Research and Technology efforts on advanced aerospace composite materials using physics based numerical simulations. Harun joined NVIDIA in 2017, where he has been leading the Math Libraries organization that builds software to help accelerate applications in science, engineering, and AI.
