Nutcracker Themed - Dance Photography Workshop - Sat, Dec 6 at 12:30 p.m.

Join us for a Special Nutcracker Themed Dance Photography Workshop with choreorgaphed Nutcracker dance pieces by Katie Somers & William Herrera Gutierrez.

This event is for photographers of all levels intending to practice, exploring or perfecting photographing dancers as they perform their dance choreography and rapertoire.

What to expect: Katie & William will perform several duets and solos from Nutcracker. They will perform, repeat, pause and pose and hold. We repeat segments so that you can try out different techniques, check your shots and make changes, switch spots, etc.

The workshop is curated by Sangeeta Yesley, Director at Creative Performances. Very excited to bring this back in its 3rd year.

Date: December 6, Saturday.

Time: 12:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m.

Place: FD Studio 6, 1003 Metropolitan ave, Brooklyn, NY, 11211
Lots of parking near FD Photo Studio. Meters rates vary with time of the day. Some of them are FREE on weekends. Please READ signs when you park.

Duration: Total duration 2 hrs.

Tickets: Limited Early Bird tickets for $110 until November 15, General admission $125.

Please bring your own photo equipment. Please note that there won't be any instruction or any instructor. We expect the attending photographers to have prior knowledge of photographing and trying this workshop with dancers to practice or to gain new experience or to build their portfolios for dance photography.

This room has Large White Cyc wall. Photographers are welcome and even encouraged to bring their own flash equipment. No more than three flashes per photographer. Note that your flashes will need to be remotely triggered. Optical triggering just won't work with many people trying to take pictures simultaneously.

All attendees are requested to arrive at the studio by 12 p.m. to set up. Workshop will commence promptly at 12:30 p.m.

Model release forms will be provided. Lights snacks and water will be provided.

A little bit about our ballet dancers:

Katelyn Somers studied ballet at Interlochen Arts Academy and proceeded to receive her BFA in Ballet from the University of Cincinnati CCM. She spent her final year at university dancing with Cincinnati Ballet before moving to NYC in 2016. Katelyn has since enjoyed performing with Connecticut Ballet, Dances Patrelle, MorDance, and most recently East Coast Contemporary Ballet and Staten Island Ballet.
William Herrera Gutierrez is a Nicaraguan ballet dancer trained at the National Ballet School of Nicaragua in Managua. He brings classical discipline and expressive technique to his work with companies including East Coast Contemporary Ballet. As an educator and performer, he helps nurture emerging talent while embodying a deep commitment to both heritage and artistry.
