Nursery Stewardship Day: Composting

Nursery Stewardship Day: Composting

By Our City Forest

Overview

Hate food waste? Want free all-natural fertilizer for your garden? Join us and Old Tom's Wormery for a workshop on at home composting!

Food waste sent to the landfill is one of the largest contributors to green house gas emissions in the United States. With no large scale food waste diversion available in San Jose, at home composting can provide an easy alternative to throwing away food scraps and waste. Oh, and it's great for your garden too.

Come to our Urban Forestry Education Center (UFEC) on Saturday Dec 13th for an educational workshop on at home vermicompost! Tom Boehme from Old Tom's Wormery will give an educational demonstration on the benefits of compost, the biology of composting worms, and how to set up and manage your own at-home worm bin. Worms and your own take home worm bins will be available for sale too.
