International Author and Women’s Advocate to be Honored

The North Shore Hispanic Chamber of Commerce invites you to attend a special event honoring Gexi Girón

International author, political consultant, and women’s advocate, Gexi Girón, will be honored at the North Shore Hispanic Chamber of Commerce’s upcoming monthly meeting on Wednesday, May 4th, at the Swan Club. The public is invited to join the chamber for an evening of entertainment, dining, and an informative presentation on behalf of Girón.

On hand to introduce Girón will be Long Island's own Veronica Renta Irwin, Esq. Irwin serves as President of the Long Island Hispanic Bar Association and is the Principal Law Clerk for the Nassau County Supreme Court. She has been a practicing attorney for more than twenty years and is well known across Long Island and beyond for her ongoing work addressing social issues, especially those affecting minorities, women, and children.

Born in Buenaventura, Colombia, Gexi Girón moved to Mexico in 1992, where she currently lives with her husband and two children. In 2011 she obtained a Master's degree in Political and Social Sciences from CIDHEM and from the University of Bretagne Occidentale in Brest, France. She holds a Doctorate in Political and Social Sciences and has served as an official in the Government of Mexico, both at the federal and state levels. A mentor, writer, and consultant on political leadership and entrepreneurship for women, Girón will be reading brief excerpts from her most recent book, “Mujeres Para Gobernar” (Women to Govern) at the upcoming North Shore Hispanic Chamber of Commerce event.

In addition to the sitdown dinner, awards ceremony, and presentation by Girón, the evening will also include entertainment by two of New York’s favorite singers, Anissa Gathers and Mary Franco.

Because space is limited and organizers are expecting a strong turnout for the event, the public is urged to purchase tickets in advance at the chamber's website.

Autora internacional y defensora de las mujeres será homenajeada

La Cámara de Comercio Hispana de North Shore lo invita a asistir a un evento especial en honor a Gexi Girón

La autora internacional, consultora política y defensora de las mujeres, Gexi Girón, será homenajeada en la próxima reunión mensual de la Cámara de Comercio Hispana de North Shore el miércoles 4 de mayo en el Swan Club. Se invita al público a unirse a la cámara para una velada de entretenimiento, comida y una presentación informativa en nombre de Girón.

Para presentar a Girón estará Veronica Renta Irwin, Esq. de Long Island. Irwin se desempeña como presidente de la Asociación de Abogados Hispanos de Long Island y es el secretario legal principal de la Corte Suprema del condado de Nassau. Ha sido abogada en ejercicio durante más de veinte años y es bien conocida en Long Island y más allá por su trabajo continuo que aborda los problemas sociales, especialmente los que afectan a las minorías, las mujeres y los niños.

Además de la cena formal, la ceremonia de entrega de premios y la presentación de Girón, la velada también incluirá el entretenimiento de dos de las cantantes favoritas de Nueva York, Anissa Gathers y Mary Franco.
