About this event

Exploring the NSF National Center for Atmospheric Research (NSF NCAR) Mesa Laboratory and Visitor Center is a fun and educational way to spend some time in the Denver metro area. Meet our tour guides at the iconic NSF NCAR Mesa Laboratory, designed by I.M. Pei, to learn about Earth science and current research being conducted at NSF NCAR.

Currently, the UCAR Center for Science Education (SciEd) is hosting 1-hour public tours at noon (12:00 pm) Mountain Time every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday (excluding observed holidays). Walk-ins are welcome! If you would like to let us know you are coming in advance you can reserve your tickets through Eventbrite, but it is not required for attendance.

This tour is best for groups of adults, families with kids aged 10 years old or up, or homeschool groups. This public tour is NOT designated for school field trips or large private groups. If you are interested in a school field trip or private tour, please check our website.

The NSF NCAR Café is open to the public for food service from 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. MT.

Check out these pages to learn more about planning your trip, the accessibility of the building, and other things to know.

In an effort to best protect our staff and other visitors, all visitors to the NCAR Mesa Laboratory must follow the guidance below:

  • On the day of the visit, any person who feels or appears ill may not enter the facility for the visit. We expect all visitors to do a self-analysis before coming onsite.
  • Masks will be optional for all visitors and staff.
