NSAAC Monthly Meeting - Journey to a Comet

Business Meeting followed by a presentation by Dr. Gregory Shanos focusing on six spacecraft that have visited comets.

This month's meeting will take place on November 7th at 7:30 at 10 Elm Street, Boxford. The business meeting will come first, followed by a presentation by Dr. Gregory Shanos on the six spacecraft that have visited comets.


Doors will open at 7:00pm, so don't hesitate to show up early to mix with other NSAAC followers.

Dr. Shanos is a pharmacist by profession and NASA Solar System Ambassador by passion. His interest in astronomy began in 1985 when he heard that Halley's Comet would soon be visible in the sky. After visiting Seagrave Observatory, the home of the Skyscrapers- the Amateur Astronomical Society of Rhode Island Greg's interest in astronomy was born.Tonight Dr. Shanos will discuss the six spacecraft that have visited comets from Giotto in 1986 to Rosetta in 2015. Greg will discuss significant findings from all these missions, focusing on the detection of organic molecules.
