Thank you for your interest in conducting research with the National Archives and Records Administration.
Appointments can be scheduled via Eventbrite for the following research rooms:
- Archives 1 Textual Research Room in Washington DC
- Archives 2 Textual Research Room in College Park, MD (including microfilm)
- Cartographic Research Room at Archives 2 in College Park, MD
- Moving Image and Sound Research Room at Archives 2 in College Park, MD
- Still Pictures Research Room at Archives 2 in College Park, MD
Please click on “Reserve a spot” or select tickets below to schedule an appointment in any of the above research rooms. We are scheduling visits no more than three months in advance. Research Room hours are Monday - Friday, 9:00am-5:00pm.
Researchers are strongly encouraged to confirm the availability of records, and verify the location of the records, before scheduling an appointment. Records may be unavailable for a variety of reasons, including for digitization, access restrictions, and/or preservation concerns.
Researchers are also strongly encouraged to consult with NARA staff in advance of their visit. NARA staff are available to provide advance consultation services, and answer questions about visiting a NARA facility. You can find the contact information for each research room below or when you register for an appointment in that room.

All researchers must register for a NARA Researcher Card. Researchers are further encouraged to pre-register in advance of a visit. Please complete the online Researcher Orientation as well as the online researcher registration form prior to your visit.

To cancel your appointment, go to your confirmation email and click on “View and Manage Order.” Click on “Cancel Order” and follow the prompts to cancel your order.
Yes, the shuttle service between the National Archives Building in Washington, D.C. and the National Archives at College Park begins at 8 a.m. Shuttles will depart each building’s designated stop five minutes after the hour and run every hour, with the last shuttle departing each building at 5 p.m.
Self-service lockers are available in the research complex. Some lockers are designated for overnight storage, and others are designated for daily storage. A quarter is required for day use lockers, but is refund when the locker key is returned.
Yes, advanced pulls are available. Please contact the specific research room you are visiting to inquire about their advanced pull requirements.
Yes, researchers should contact NARA at least 3-4 weeks in advance of your research visit. Staff are available to provide advance consultation services, and answer questions about visiting a NARA facility.
