Not a Footnote: Mapping the Timeline for the Outsourced Cleaners' Struggles

Venue: MayDay Rooms

Date: October 25, 2025 at 2:00-4:00 PM (Europe/London)

What does it mean to clean a university that refuses to see you?

This workshop traces the UAL End Outsourcing Cleaners Campaign within the wider history of privatisation and casualisation in the U.K. service and education sectors.

Through testimonies, union archives, and collective mapping, we explore how outsourcing fractures responsibility, erases voices, and relies on invisible migrant labour—bringing cleaners’ histories from the margins to the centre.

All languages and levels of interest welcome!

We ask for a £5 donation at door to help cover the cost of printing, materials and light refreshments.

Unfortunately, the venue is not wheelchair accessible. For full access to the space and to engage with all the materials gathered throughout the series, please join us for the last workshop held at Hypha Studios.
