Elevate your computer skills with Kramden's free online-only series of classes and certifications using the Northstar Digital Literacy platform. Take classes with an instructor on Monday and Tuesdays (optional), practice on your own, and then test to earn official resume-ready certifications on Thursdays--all on Zoom.

We teach Northstar in two parts: Basics and Office.


Northstar Basics (June 23 - July 24)

  • Topics: Basic Computer Skills, Internet, Email, Windows 10, and Windows 11.
  • Class: Mondays & Tuesdays, 6 - 7:30 pm
  • Assessment: Thursdays, 6 - 7 pm


Northstar Office (July 28 - August 21)

  • Topics: Google Docs, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Class: Mondays & Tuesdays, 6 - 8 pm
  • Assessment: Thursdays, 6 - 7 pm

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to take Basics and Office?

No, you can take both, or just the series that applies to you. Sign up for the whole series and just attend the weeks you need.

Do I have to take the classes?

No, you can take assessments to earn certificates without attending the classes, using the Northstar website to practice on your own time. You will need to attend the proctored testing session on Thursdays with a Kramden instructor in order to earn certificates, however.

Do I have to take the assessments?

No, you can attend classes without taking assessments. However, assessments are the only way to earn official Northstar certificates.

Where do the classes and assessments take place?

The whole course is online. We use Zoom to meet for classes and assessments, and students practice using the Northstar website.
