About this event

Step into a world of natural beauty and creative brilliance at the North Central Florist Designer of the Year Competition, held during the Minnesota State Fair on August 27th and 28th. This prestigious professional floral design competition brings together the region’s top floral talent to compete under the enchanting 2025 theme, "Woodland Wonder."

Designers will create two stunning floral entries:

  1. A designer’s choice piece inspired by the Woodland Wonder theme.
  2. A bridal bouquet crafted entirely with green florals and foliage.

Entries will be judged on creativity, technique, and originality, with a focus on capturing the magic of nature through floral art. Join us as we celebrate excellence in floral design and crown the North Central region’s standout designer.

The Professional Designer of the Year is a recurring competition held at the Minnesota State Fair. Each designer brings two themed arrangements to be displayed for the two days for thousands of fairgoers to enjoy. Judging will take place from 8:00 to 11:00 am on Wednesday, and awards will be presented with finalists being notified by 2:00 pm. Once judging is complete, signage is placed with your arrangement with the designer's name and shop. You can also bring business cards to place beside your designs for additional marketing opportunities.
