No Exit New Music Ensemble begins their 17th season with AMERICAN DESCENT, a bold and evocative concert of contemporary classical works that will captivate, challenge, and inspire thought.

🎶 Highlights include:

  • World Premiere of American Descent by Andrew Rindfleisch — a passionate rumination on our present time in America, written for an expanded ensemble.
  • World Premiere of Cryptic Locomotion (newly reimagined version) by Geoffrey Burleson — an experimental, Latin jazz–tinged work with fresh energy and vision.
  • After days of rain, construction fills the air by June Young Will Kim — a deeply engrossing exploration of tactile soundscapes.
  • Viola Spaces by Garth Knox — performed by No Exit violist James Rhodes, an engaging journey into extended techniques for the viola.

This season opener also features guest artists:
Amy Advocat (clarinet/bass clarinet), John Faieta (trombone), Geoffrey Burleson (piano), Matthew Sharrock (percussion), Steve Sang Kyun Koh (violin), and David Russell (cello).
