Nir Z: The Drummer Behind Iconic Albums

Nir Zidkyahu, known as Nir Z, is an Israeli session drummer who relocated from Israel to New York City in 1992, launching an internationally acclaimed career.

The Genesis Breakthrough

Nir Z's defining moment came in 1997 when he joined Genesis following Phil Collins' departure. He recorded drums on their final studio album "Calling All Stations" with new vocalist Ray Wilson and performed on the band's 1997-1998 European tour, marking both Genesis' end and the beginning of his prolific session career.

Cut and Creative Ventures

His collaboration with Ray Wilson extended beyond Genesis when they formed the band Cut, releasing "Millionairhead" in 1999. This project showcased Nir Z's abilities as both a creative collaborator and original songwriter.

Mainstream Success

In 2001, Nir Z achieved mainstream recognition playing drums on John Mayer's breakthrough triple platinum album "Room for Squares." This success established him as a premier session musician capable of blending technical skill with commercial appeal.
