About this event

  • Event lasts 1 hour
  • Ages 18+

FreeDance is about moving in whatever way feels right for you, there are no choreographed steps to learn.

A specially designed playlist will help you release blocked energy while also exploring new ways of moving (with prompts along the way to support you!)

It's an incredible and fun way to release stress and come back home to yourself.

There is also an energy healing component available to participants if desired.

Frequently asked questions

I’m not a dancer, can I do this?

Absolutely! ANYONE can do this! There is a framework for the class that is helpful. The bottom line is that it's about moving your body and connecting with and expressing yourself the way it feels right that day.

Are you only offering this one class?

We have added a second day - Thursday evenings from 6-7:30 pm. Please search for my name on Evenbrite to find all events. If a private event / party is of interest, I would love to talk more! There are a lot of options available, for example working with cacao and nature communication experiences.

Are all of the classes the same?

Suprisingly no! The kinds of music played varies and we all show up a little differently each day.

What should I bring and what should I wear?

Please bring water, comfy socks or dance shoes (in case you don't want to go barefoot) and a yoga mat and blanket. We won't be using the mat or blanket much but it's nice to have as a starting point and landing pad. The studio is heated to 66 degrees so layers are nice too.

I have limited mobility, is this a good fit for me?

Yes! You are welcome to move as much or as little as feels right. We can also bring a chair into the studio if that would feel good to you.

Who is hosting this event?

Kara Breese will be what NIA calls "your DJ"! She recently completed her NIA certification and gets so much joy from sharing it with people! If you need to contact Kara she can be reached at connect@karabreese.com.

What is NIA? What does that stand for?

Neuromuscular Integrative Action (NIA) is a mind-body fitness practice that combines dance, martial arts, and healing arts. It's designed to improve flexibility, strength, and cardiovascular health, while also promoting overall well-being.

What if I want to pay cash, by check, Venmo or PayPal?

Register here using the "Pay in person" option and pay the day of class.

What is the "tone" of these classes?

These sessions are part of what I have fun referring to as "Camp Wonder-ment", camp for adults. Stepping back into play, curiosity and celebration. I've been dreaming up other offerings which I'm looking forward to announcing soon!
