Event description

Description

We're inviting select community leaders to a creative workshop with The Trust Project on April 11th, Indiana Interchurch Center. A light dinner will be served. Spots are limited so please RSVP early to secure your spot.

You'll learn how newsrooms are enhancing their credibility and accountability, and you’ll participate in a design-thinking activity. You will leave with strategies for helping people in your sphere of influence use the “Trust Indicators” identify trustworthy news.

The Trust Project is a consortium of news outlets working together to build a more transparent and trustworthy press. Participating newsrooms provide Trust Indicators on their pages that people – and tech platforms including Google and Facebook – can use to decide whether a news story comes from a high-quality source. Trust Project newsrooms range from the Independent Journal Review, Washington Post, and Mic to TEGNA stations and Hearst Television.

Please join in the work of the Trust Project to spread the word about its Trust Indicators. At this workshop, you’ll hear from Trust Project CEO Sally Lehrman about the origins, practices, and next steps for the Trust Project. The ideas from our collaborative working groups will enable all of us to make Trust Indicators actionable for you and people in your community.

Rundown of Events

  • We’ll start with an introduction by Trust Project Director, Sally Lehrman.

  • In small groups, you'll brainstorm ways to use Trust Indicators to help people in your sphere of influence identify trustworthy news.

  • We’ll end by sharing your ideas and next steps you can take to bring Trust Indicators to people in your community.

For more context, please read Sally Lehrman's article in the Atlantic “What People Really Want From News Organizations.”
