September 28, 2021 - Innovation Tools and Methods
Exploring Design Thinking
Is everything you develop/produce/create ruthlessly focused on the interactions of those it serves?
That is the power of Design Thinking or what we sometimes call Human Centered Design.
We will highlight the Nurse Maker Space at Unity Point Health as part of this workshop on Design Thinking. Design Thinking is focused on creating solutions that your customers need and want, that will make the work they do easier. In this workshop you will learn:
- The principles of Design Thinking
- What design thinking looks like in action at the Unity Point Nurse Maker Space
- How to apply Design Thinking to an idea
December 13, 2021 - Planning and Retros
Retros focus on how we do the work we do. For those organizations focused on continuous improvement in their culture - this is the session for you. We will experiment with three different kinds of retros and how to make them as impactful as possible for your organization.
About your InnovationDojo Guide:
Prior to joining the mission at NewBoCo, Jennifer spent 7 years as an entrepreneur focused on supporting individuals and teams to embrace a “Never Settle” mindset as a personal and executive coach, trainer, and consultant. During this time she began teaching in higher education in workforce development programs and as an Adjunct in the Business and Leadership Program at the University of Charleston, West Virginia. She also spent 9 and a half years in the corporate setting with roles at Rockwell Collins as a logistics leader, business development manager, and global strategic development manager, preceded by a role at Alliant Energy as a maintenance manager at one of the power generation plans where she was consistently assigned to growth roles and programs. Her professional career was initiated by her almost 10 years in the US Army as an Ordnance officer supervising logistics operations in a variety of environments to include deployments in support of both Afghanistan and Iraq operations, where her efforts culminated in the award of a bronze star for achievement.
Jennifer holds a bachelor's in Criminology from California State University, Fresno, an MBA from the University of Phoenix, and is pursuing a Doctor of Executive Leadership Degree focused on executive leaders in complex environments. She is a Certified Personal and Executive Coach (CPEC) holds certifications in Positive Psychology and other personal development areas, is a Certified Diversity Professional (CDP), and a Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO).
Originally from California, after living in multiple states and countries, Jennifer currently resides in Cedar Rapids, Iowa with her 13-year-old son, and Labradors Nova and Walter.
