NEW WAVE & L.A. PUBLIC LIBRARY present a NEW WAVE ZINE-MAKING WORKSHOP
NEW WAVE Zine-Making Workshop
Sunday, October 26, 2025 | 2:30–4:30 PM
Octavia E. Butler Memory Lab – Los Angeles Public Library, Central Library
Join filmmaker and author Elizabeth Ai (NEW WAVE: Rebellion and Reinvention in the Vietnamese Diaspora) and Betty Hang, co-producer of the award-winning documentary NEW WAVE, for a hands-on zine-making workshop celebrating National Archives Month.
Together, we’ll explore how personal and community stories can challenge mainstream narratives by watching some clips from the feature documentary film, NEW WAVE, and become part of our shared archive.
Using collage, stickers, stamps, and mixed media, participants will create their own zines reflecting on identity, memory, and resistance.
All materials provided (feel free to bring your own family archives to use in the zine (photocopies of photos)!).
Come ready to make, share, and uplift the stories that connect us.
