This Colorado Concealed Handgun Permit (CCW/CHP) class is fully compliant with the new Colorado training requirements effective July 1, 2025.
Whether you’re a first-time applicant or completing your renewal training, this course is designed to be beginner-friendly, legally compliant, and easy to succeed in — even if you’ve never fired a gun before.
Your class will take place entirely at Damage Factory in Greenwood Village, offering a professional classroom environment and an on-site live-fire range for a seamless training experience.
This course meets and exceeds the mandated curriculum outlined in CRS § 18-12-203, including:
✔ Firearm Safety
Safe handling, safe loading/unloading, range safety, and preventing negligent discharges.
✔ Colorado Gun Laws
- Legal carry
- Restricted locations
- Brandishing
- Duty to notify
- Use-of-force and deadly force laws
- Colorado’s “no duty to retreat” standard (not a “stand your ground” state)
✔ Basic Pistol Fundamentals
Grip • Stance • Sight alignment • Sight picture • Trigger control • Follow-through
✔ Mental Preparedness & Situational Awareness
Understanding AOJ (Ability / Opportunity / Jeopardy), pre-attack indicators, and threat avoidance.
✔ Responsible Carry & Storage
How to carry safely, transport laws, and preventing unauthorized access.
✔ Firearm Maintenance
Cleaning, lubrication, and basic function checks.
✔ Written Exam
Pass with 80% or higher.
✔ Live-Fire Qualification
Mandatory course of fire using 50 rounds.
Students will fire 25 qualification rounds on a silhouette target.
Distances:
- 7 feet: 10 rounds
- 10 feet: 10 rounds
- 15 feet: 5 rounds
Passing Score:
- Must hit inside the silhouette area
- Minimum 70% (18 hits out of 25)
10:00 AM – Check-In & Admin
10:15 AM – Classroom Instruction
12:15 PM – Lunch (30 minutes)
12:45 PM – Classroom Continues & Written Test
2:00 PM – Live-Fire Training & Qualification
4:30 PM – Permit Paperwork & Final Questions
6:00 PM – End of Class
Breaks: A 10-minute break every hour.
