About this event
Boston theatre company The Dinosaur Factory excavates the bones of storytelling to create compelling theatrical narratives. The company will make its debut with this reading of Mac Mitchell’s poetic comedy, After We Become Rain.
About the play: A home is not a home if you can't be alive there. Chuck and Moon are best friends. They are always leaving and coming back together not unlike two aimless, rocket-powered objects beyond the laws of gravity. Chuck is always traveling and getting lost after the footsteps of his vanished father. Meanwhile, Moon has a tendency to find herself trapped at the bottom of a river only to emerge and return to a childhood home that never felt like a home. Will the two ever find a home they can make their own? After We Become Rain blends elements of fantasy, romance, and buddy comedies to take audiences on an adventure filled with both laughter and deeper understanding.
The reading will be followed by a brief discussion with the artists and playwright about what moments and images stick with audiences, what questions linger, and how the story could evolve in the future. Beer, wine, and food will be available for purchase.
